Product Description

This is a bleached white extra heavy weight "instructors" karate gi. It's made of long-strand 14 oz 100% brushed cotton canvas so it's much softer than traditional heavy canvas uniforms (we got tired of washing our uniforms for a year to get them to soften up - if you LIKE getting rubbed raw from a new canvas uniform, this is not the one to get).

This Piranha Gear brand gi includes pants with a traditional drawstring waist, reinforced groin, and heavy stitching throughout to ensure durability. The pants, jacket and sleeves all have 8 rows of stitching at the hem. It is truly a "top-of-the-line" uniform.

We were tired of the drawstrings calling it quits before the uniform. So these drawstrings and jacket ties are made of the same heavy material as the uniform (but quadruple folded) so they won't tear after the first year. We also have a nylon lining put inside the drawstring "tunnel" of the pants. That makes tightening them much easier - especially when they get sweaty.

The jacket has shorter "work-out" or "tournament" length sleeves (4/5 length) rather than full length "formal" sleeves - specifically for comfort and convenience. That means the sleeves will ride a couple inches above your wrist rather than cover it.

These uniforms do tend to run a little large, so if you're not sure about the fit, we recommend that you get the smaller size.

This is NOT intended for beginning students and we'd suggest you consider a light weight gi before investing in one of these. It does NOT come with a belt because, honestly, you probably already have one if you're ordering this...

Karate Gi 14 oz White - 4/5 sleeve (6) Review

This gi is an amazing value! At 14oz it's heavier than my Sheradio, and with it's bushed cotton, it's softer too. When I ordered the gi I goofed. I ordered two size 5. I meant to order one size 4 and one size 5, because I read these run large... I wanted to cover my bases. The reviewer who said they run large was correct. In talking(email) with the company I found them to be very friendly... like family. They even sent me a size 4 to try out. I eventually sold one of the size 5 to a fellow instructor, and EVENTUALLY returned the other size 5. In the meantime the owner of Piranha Gear, and I stayed in contact, exchanging conversation ranging from my being an instructor to his relatives playing paintball (I'm also part of a paintball team... Warriors For Christ). I know we will remain in contact because Piranha is more than just a company, they are people who care.... Right now I'm waiting to order my next gi... from Piranha Gear. (they are momentarily out of stock on the particular gi I want) Right now I don't see myself buying a gi anywhere else... partly due to the high quality/low price, and partly because of their people!

You will not regret a purchase from Piranha Gear.

2012-06-03: This is a follow-up, and a comment/reply to a comment question asked about shrinkage. There was no significant shrinkage.
I am still completely satisfied with my purchase.
I now own 3 of these (one in Black).

The only thing better than these gi are the people who sell them! They go so far out of their way.... it's like they care more about you than they care about themselves... like they are tailors to the king, and you are the king.
